There’s always something new to learn when it comes to makeup, and your favorite makeup artists have tons of great ideas. By Anita Yadav
If you’re a beauty obsessive, you can spend hours watching makeup tutorials on YouTube and Instagram, all in an effort to learn a fun trick or quick hack to make your face glow and energize. But if you don’t have time to watch a video, we asked the best in the business to tell us these game-changing, time-saving tricks. These tips take a few seconds (or minutes) to do, but they can make a huge difference.
1) Add some oil to your foundation
Don’t have the time – or want to make an effort – with a shine-enhancing primer? If you want your foundation to shine, add a little camellia oil, which will give you an all-over radiant base, says Anita Yadav, a Gurgaon-based celebrity and bridal makeup artist. It removes the entire makeup step and will give you the same lit-from-within finish.
2) Apply some highlighter to brighten up your eyes
A perfect contour is a time-consuming, complicated makeup step, but a quick swipe of cream highlighter can really serve you well, even if you only have a few seconds to head out the door. Anita yadav, a Gurgaon makeup artist likes to apply a creamy highlighter around the eye contour before concealer, as it gives the eye area a luminous finish and a major lift.
3) Use glycerin soap to set your brows
Brushing your brows can help create a soft, feathery feel as opposed to a thick, defined shape – as it gives you the look of fuller brows without being too dense. Don’t have a colored brow gel on hand? Simply rub the bristles of a spoolie brush over a bar of soap to create a gel-like residue. Then, just brush it out and set your brows, says Anita.
4) Take the time to curl your lashes
It may only take ten seconds, but most people skip the curling step. Most makeup artists recommend that you grip and pump your curler four to six times at the root, and then along the lashes to reach the tips so you have curls instead of curls. When lashes are curled, you need to use less mascara, giving you more natural-looking lashes.
5) Use an eyebrow pencil to plump up your lips
“For natural-looking plump lips, you can use an ash or gray tinted eyebrow pencil instead of a lip pencil to create great depth,” says Anita Yadav. Just draw a quick line on the contour of your lips, she says, and then blend it.
6) Don’t forget the blush
Anita Yadav, likes to use lipstick on her cheeks and lids to create a quick look that looks all tied together. Instead of skipping blush — which people often do when contouring — Anita Makeup artist suggests wearing a cream blush, and then swiping on a powder product on the apples of your cheeks to instantly wake up your face.
7) Cover any redness near your nose
Using concealer around your nostrils will actually make you look fresher and brighter, and some pros say it’s a game-changing hack that will make you look more photo-ready, even if you haven’t applied concealer anywhere else. .
8) Use setting spray
Traditionally, setting spray is used as a final step to keep makeup looking fresh and crease-free for longer. But makeup artists agree that using a generous spritz of setting spray right before starting your foundation can be a hack for a dewy, flawless finish, says Anita Yadav.
